Meet Sam, Sonya & Jack
Sam and Sonya don't just own Eagle Mill Boutique Hotel — they live here, surrounded by three acres of Cambridgeshire countryside. Over the years, they've put a great deal of themselves into the house, its gardens and grounds, and the seven individually designed rooms.
Sam is hands-on with much of the day-to-day running, from welcoming guests to cooking breakfast fresh each morning alongside Marie & the team. That personal involvement is part of what makes Eagle Mill what it is: somewhere guests are genuinely welcomed, well looked after and made to feel at ease.

A Place With History
At the heart of Eagle Mill stands a Grade II-listed house dating back to the early 19th century. The property's name comes from the Black Eagle Windmill, a post mill that once stood in the paddock behind the house. Although the windmill disappeared in the early 1900s, its history remains part of Eagle Mill's character today.
When Sam and Sonya discovered the property, they viewed it three times before deciding to make it their home. Developing guest accommodation was always part of the plan, although Sam initially imagined just three rooms. When the opportunity arose to build five, they took the plunge.
The later addition of two orchard rooms, Great Ouse and Cam, brought Eagle Mill to the seven-room boutique hotel it is today, combining the character of its historic setting with individually designed accommodation and modern comforts.

The Little Things Matter
No two rooms at Eagle Mill are quite alike. From the artwork and carefully chosen soft furnishings to the individual layouts and thoughtful finishing touches, each has its own character, with comfort and a little luxury at its heart.
It's the smaller details that matter just as much. Eagle Mill is fully licensed, and whether guests are celebrating a special occasion, travelling for work or simply enjoying a few days away, Sam and the team are always happy to help with individual requests wherever possible.
It's personal, relaxed hospitality, with the freedom to enjoy your stay in your own way.

3 Acres of Cambridgeshire Countryside
The grounds are as much a part of Eagle Mill as the rooms themselves. Around three acres of gardens, orchard and open countryside give guests space to wander, sit somewhere quiet, enjoy the changing seasons or simply slow down for a while.
For Sam and Sonya, looking after the gardens and grounds is part of caring for the place they call home. That same thoughtfulness carries through into the way Eagle Mill is run, from energy-saving lighting and recycling to filtered drinking water in place of plastic bottles. Towels are washed when guests leave them on the floor, while bed linen is normally changed every three days unless requested sooner. Two electric vehicle charging points are also available for guests travelling by EV.
It all forms part of a quieter, more considered kind of stay — somewhere with space around you, plenty of countryside on the doorstep and the freedom to enjoy Eagle Mill at your own pace.
And while it can feel wonderfully tucked away, Eagle Mill is far from isolated. Houghton village is close by, with market towns St Ives and Huntingdon both within easy reach, making it simple to explore more of Cambridgeshire before returning to the peace of the hotel and its grounds.
